Dr. Salika Lawrence, Professor & Campbell Endowed Chair of Urban Education received a professional development grant from the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources. The project, “Urban Education Roundtable” provides professional development for teachers from local, partnering schools. The teachers work in teams to develop thematic units and lesson plans that incorporate primary sources. Participating teachers review and select primary sources to develop engaging learning experiences for students in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms. The curriculum resources developed through the project can also be used to teach local topics about New Jersey history. Visit the project website https://sites.google.com/tcnj.
